Review of Dragonball Xenoverse 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia, Switch)

Hey, everyone! This week, I review BANDAI NAMCO's MMORPG/action hybrid. Can Kakarot fight his way to the top? Or could this game get knocked out in one hit by a Saibaman?

Let's find out!

(Best enjoyed with headphones on two-tailed foxes WERE harmed in the making of this review!)

The Dragon Ball franchise is one of the most popular anime in the industry.

First broadcasted on Japanese TV in 1986, was later ported to the west and 1997. Since then, Dragon Ball has maintained its dominance of the industry, spawning various manga comic books, TV spin-offs, and of course video games.

This game in particular was released in 2016. This game takes place two years after the events of the original game.

Your player character, a Time patroller refused ad from the Elder Kai, which entailed restoring the timelines of the Dragon Ball franchise, which  Toa and Mira, who is actively trying to gather enough energy to revive the demon realm(we interrupt this Dragonball Xenoverse 2 review to being you Mortal Kombat).

The accessibility scores are as follows:

Visibility 8

the majority of the game can be very easily played when playing with a visual impairment.

But, this game still suffers from "The Halo effect" the only way to differentiate friend from foe aims to check which colour of the iconic on that is present in the characters health bars. Although, to be fair the player's gamer tag (or PSN ID if you're playing on PlayStation) is displayed. But, in single-player and visually impaired player can be at a disadvantage. I understand that red and blue I'm not exactly hardest hit when it comes to playing games with a person who has colourblindness, it still needs addressing nonetheless!

Audibility 10

There are in-game subtitles that can be enabled and disabled through the options menu which are displayed both in cutscenes or missions, so a player with a hearing impairment will be able to understand what's being said in the story or missions.

Mobility 8.5

There are three button layouts to choose from, but the stick layouts cannot be customised. So, a mobility-impaired player find it hard to navigate through the hub worlds. Apart from that, the game is highly playable for a player with mobility impairments.

Gameplay 9

this game is very fun to play. There is a variety of things to do in the game, for example, instructor challenges, story missions, and PVP battles. The roster of characters that are selectable is not exactly the largest for a dragon ball game.

The character customisation is expensive. You can customise the very skills, armour and abilities that your character can use. However, the gameplay itself can be repetitive after a long play session.

What really makes it stand out from the crowd is the multiplayer elements. The world that you will be playing on is completely online and dynamic. You can team up with a friend or other players online and co-op missions, commonly known as "parallel quests". And, of course, you can fight against your friends, or other players online in PVP battles.

In summary, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is the perfect blend of the fast-paced fighting elements from the Dragon Ball franchise, with World of Warcraft like MMO features.  As I just said in the gameplay section, the gameplay can get a bit repetitive after a  long play session, the online world should keep you coming back for more. This game is highly recommended for fans of the Dragon Ball franchise, who is looking for getting their  Dragon Ball fix over the summer.

OVERALL SCORE- 88.75|%

A fairly  decent score, but not enough to go ultra instinct

See you guys in the next review!
