Review of Yu-Gi-Oh: Legacy of the Duelist(Xbox One, PS4, PC, Switch)

Hey everyone! This week I review the latest entry in KONAMI's  Trading Card Game franchise. With a 92.5%  to beat Robert's Commandos,  will Robert emerge victorious? or will Fraser & Cloud's faith in the Heart of the cards come to fruition and draw the last piece of ||Exodia, the Forbidden One?
Shuffle your decks guys!  It's time to d-d-d-duel!!!

(Best enjoyed with headphones on!)

During the late 90s-mid 200s the world was in a grip of a Pokemon fever. Nintendo was pushing that franchise as much as they can with toys, clothes, videogames (Of course!) and a trading card game, produced by Magic the Gathering producer, Wizards of the Coast. By that time it was flooding the school. Everyone was battling, trading and talking about them! I remember a few times where actual fights broke out as the winner picked a card of their choice from the loser's deck (not kidding!).

KONAMI  was very aware of the trend and in 1999 they created their own TCG, with a TV, manga and comic book series to go with it as a marketing campaign Today, Yu-Gi-Oh is generating an annual  income of $10 million (SOURCE: Owler)

This game's story follows the events of the TV series, including its spin-offs. Like all games based off the series, you can build your own deck of 40-60 cards and battle it out against  AI opponents, your friends, or fellow duelists online.

The accessibility scores are as follows:

Visibility 7
Let's get this out the door-The font size of the cards is too small for a visually impaired player. I understand that you can press and hold Y to see what's written in full-screen. But font size options would make this game countless times easier to play. Apart from that, Other Ocean has got the accessibility pretty much nailed.

Audibility 10
This game has no spoken dialogue at all so cutscenes are text-based. So you should be fine with this game

Mobility 9
The interface of this game feels a little clunky. For example, it is easy to summon the wrong card or the right card in the wrong position. But to be fair, like all trading card games, all of it is turn-based, which gives you plenty of time to think through your moves. But a mobility-impaired player  will   be able to play this game with no issues

Gameplay 10
This is pretty much the closest thing to playing the actual TCG   you'll ever get!  the sheer amount of cards which are available (and unlockable!)is OVVER 9,000!  So no duel will feel the same. with the amount of single-player content to get your deck (and skills!) ready for the online element. Better still-no microtransactions! But my only criticism is that the game feels repetitive after X amount of duels in a single session. Depends on how big a fan you are I guess...

In summary, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist is the most realistic form of playing the TCG itself without the risk of losing some of your cards. In my opinion, it's certainly better than Duel Links by a fair margin. Is it worth the  £15 price tag? I'd say yes! This game is beginner-friendly, so if you are new to the game, or a seasoned veteran, this game could be a good choice!

 OVERALL SCORE-90%

Robert wins by a whisker!!

See you guys in the next review!

 SpartanCommander1990 out!
