Review of Borderlands 3( Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Hey everyone! This week I review the latest edition in 2K's action RPG genre, is this Game a Destiny killer?

Let's find out!

                            (best enjoyed with headphones on)

The Borderlands series has been the been the Jotaro Kujo to Destiny's Dio.  Since it's original release in 2009,  it broke the ground for the FPS/ RPG hybrid sub-genre. Even today the two franchises have been locked in an Ultimate Battle (yes, this is a DBZ reference!)  the fourth entry of the series has been launched  September  2019. But one problem. The PC port was shackled behind Epic Games Store exclusivity.  Earlier on this month, it came to Steam.  my next-door neighbour and Borderlands fan, Richard "Axton" Harker requested this game to be reviewed.

Of course, I agreed! Right, let's get on with this.

In this game, you play the part of one of three vault hunters. Zane,  Moze and Fl4k (Possible Unreal Tournament reference!) as  you explore the well.....Borderlands, investigate a mysterious cult, who was believed to be in possession of a Lost Vault Map and claim the sweet, sweet loot within!

The accessibility scores are as follows:
+

Visibility 11
You can customise the colours of your crosshairs to suit your impairments. So you can play this game with no issues at all

Audibility 10
There are in-game subtitles which can be activated from the accessibility section of the game's options menu. So you can understand what's going n the game while the story progresses

Mobility 10
The control options in this game are pretty decent there are a few stick and button layouts to choose from.  A legacy layout can be enabled. In this game, it's called Old School. The main criticism is that Mouse and Keyboard support is not available. So you'll be stuck with the controller.

Gameplay 9.5

In short this is your typical run-of-the-mill loot-based shooter. Gameplay-wise this game doesn't bring a lot of new features to the table Yes, you can call in your freinds on Steam or Epic Games Store (the less said about that the better!)   One of the biggest issues of this game is that there is no cross plaform support with PC and Consoles.

More and more games allow cross-plaform support between PC and Consoles. Modern Warfare (2019) has this feature, Gears 5 has this. Hell, even Halo Wars 2 allows PC players to go toe-to-toe against Xbox One players!  In my opinion, this is a  good opportunity wasted!

In summary Borderlands, 4  is a pretty good game, despite its shortfalls. It's the use of Unreal Engine 4 is quite effective. Like I said cross-play between consoles and PC could make this game more active. But, to be fair. It's main competitor Destiny 2 lacked this feature as well! If you are looking for a  decent loot-based shooter to play,  Destiny 2 would be a better option. Destiny 2 has more content, a  PvP element, Crucible, and this game's price is about the same as the two DLCs available for the game, Forsaken and Shadowkeep, therefore more value for your money.

OVERALL SCORE-101.25%

See you guys in the next review
