ULTIMATE REVIEW KOMBAT 9 (review of Ori & Will of the Wisps- Xbox One, PC)

Hey, everyone! Welcome back to Ultimate Review Kombat. URK is basically a  way of settling a dispute within the community. This time, we review Xbox Game Studios'  most recent release! Who will win this time?

Let's find out!

(Best enjoyed with headphones on!)

As you can tell by now, we are in the epicentre of another argument within the community.

This time, it's battle of the YouTubers!

It's Faithless Games- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPyGTxxxnwusCqKaIflb2Vw (who has picked Ermac)
vs Kenzie Retro  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChODZIXoeFCyxmAjvbkYLrg (who has selected Lu Kang)
and we have a third entrant- CRSnake(playing as Kung Lao)

right guys, it's storytime!

Yesterday Kenzie kindly volunteered to assist me in my Honors Project in Uni. He wanted me to review this game in exchange. Faithless, on the other hand, was not impressed. At all. He wanted me to review Dark Souls instead, he claimed Ori is "rubbish"*. Kenzie  put his request of DOOM Eternal on the line that the game would score over 80%

What better way to solve this issue(and celebrate MK4's re-release on GOG) than Ultimate Review Kombat Arena!

If this game scores over 80%, DOOM 64 gets added to Eternal, over two weeks

If it doesn't, Dark Souls is next weeks review
If  it's perfect scores, Mortal Kombat 4 is next week's review

[insert CJ here]

This game picks up where 2015's Ori and the Blind Forest left off.

Kuro tried to attack the Spirit Tree and Spirit Guardians to prevent his last unborn chick from death. One of the Spirit Guardians, Ori rescued the Spirit Tree, Kuro's chick hatched after the events of that game.
Now, Ori, Naru and Ku are living together. But when Ku was learning to fly there was a storm, and Ku gets lost! It is up to Ori to find Ku and bring her home!

Eyes up guys, here comes those accessibility scores!

  Visibility 9.5

Although there are no colourblind modes in place, there are no colour-coded  elements that can cause issues for colourblind players

Audibility 10
There is subtitles available in the cutscenes and in-game, so you should be fine with this game.

Mobility 7
In the PC version, you can use a controller, or keyboard and mouse. But here's where my biggest issue lie. You can't rebind the keys, nor buttons, so you might encounter issues when playing this game. Especially on console

Gameplay 10
This is a sequel done right. Moon Studios took what's good about this game, and cranks them tenfold. The Metroid-esque elements o this game is retained from its predecessor. The graphics look stunning, even from a Metroidvania-esque platformer, the music still retains the same, calming tone. Instead of simple running and gunning, Ori can use a bow or sword for hack'n' slash combat.

In summary, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a very good platformer. It holds up to the high standards of being Ori and the Blind Forest'ssequel and expands on it.  The main difference between the two games is the amount of abilities Ori can use You can switch between them to give you the edge. With this game being Xbox Play Anywhere AND  on Xbox Game Pass, it would be worth your time at least giving this game a try!

OVERALL SCORE 91.25%
And Kenzie takes the win!
See you guys in the next review!
