Review of Wolfenstien: New Order (PC, Xbox One,PC, PS4)

Hey, everyone! This week, we're taking a break from JRPG Season to review a reboot of a well-known First-Person shooter to get us hyped for DOOM Eternal, DOOM 64 and Combat Evolved on PC (for the second* time!) I have decided to review this game. Can Rob make his mark after a year's hiatus?

Let's find out!

(best enjoyed with headphones on!)
As I've said in my review from Wolfenstein: New Colossus, the Wolfenstein series has been the most notable franchises in the  First-person Shooter genre, along with DOOM  and Quake.

After Activision's failed reboot of the franchise, Bethesda turned to Machine Games to revitalise the franchise.

This game is set after the events of that reboot.

Well, guys, Blaskowitz messed up.  The Nazis have developed advanced technology, which has turned the tide of the war on the Axis  Power's favour, now the Germans have achieved world domination. So, what's left of the Allies embark on a desperate struggle to overthrow the Nazi regime. You play as William Joseph Blazkowicz who joined this resistance to Steele a score with Hlelmund Strasse AKA Deathshead, the ruthless scientist that is responsible for the Nazi's technological superiority.

The accessibility scores are as follows:

Visibility 10
There are no colour-coded elements that can cause issues for colourblind players.

Audibility 10
All-in-game dialogue is subtitled. When the enemies Spreche auf Deutch (Speak in German)  the translation is in English, so best of luck trying to understand what enemies say with subtitles disabled!

Mobility 8.5
First up, the console version is a no-go. This game has no legacy stick layout, but there are numerous button layouts to choose from. But, for PC users You can rebind the keys, so it's best to go for the PC version.

Gameplay 8
This, my friend, is what a Wolfenstein reboot should play like. The developers took what's good about Return to Castle Wolfenstein and cranked most of them tenfold. The stealth mechanic is there. But if you want to go in all guns blazing, you can dual wield assault rifles, John Woo style!

Although there is no multiplayer content in this game. So, this game lacks the lifespan of most traditional shooters like Call of Duty. But for a Single-player only game like Half-Life, this game is very good.

In summary Wolfenstein: New Order takes the two-decade-old franchise on ba whole new direction. Instead of fighting the Nazi War Machine during WW2, the depressing aftermath of an Axis Victory in WW2 is a breath of fresh air for the franchise, as it deviates from the norm. If you are looking for a WW2 era shooter that you can get lost in, this could be a good choice!

OVERALL SCORE 91.25%

See you guys in the next review!

SpartanCommander1990 out!

Roll out, Spartan Company!

*= The first time CE was ported to PC was by Gearbox Software in 2001, which shown no improvements from the OG Xbox version. As you can tell it was a lazy man's port.`

UPDATE: during the writing of this review, CE is out!
