Review of Worms W.M.D(Xbox One, PC, PS4, Switch)

Hey everyone! Welcome to the very first review of our lockdown. This week, I review the latest entry in one of the best and most recognised turn-based tactical games in the gaming industry. Does R-Cade have what it takes to capture the blog this year?

Let's find out!

(Best enjoyed with headphones on!)

Team 17's Worms series has been one of the most recognisable franchises and the turn-based strategy game subgenre for consoles. The first entry of the series has been released on a variety of platforms. These platforms include Sega genesis, Atari jaguar PlayStation one, even Game Boy! This particular entry in the series was released in August 2016. The aim of this game is as simple as every entry in the series. Create a team of eight Worms with their own unique, and zany voices, hats and various other accessories Pick your opposing team or teams and finally, blow every single member of the opposing team to the Stone Age!

Attention on deck, Company! Here come those accessibility scores!

Visibility 11
Apart from the hats and various accessories that each team is wearing, you can customise which colour the team colours of each worm. You could do so in the game setup screen. So that way, you can customise whichever colour scheme is best suited to your visual impairments.

Audibility 8
although there are no subtitles for spoken dialogue during the matches, the only spoken dialogue is the witty battle chatter that typical British comedy is famous for! And any events that happen in battle with the on-screen notifications will appear in the top centre of the screen. This should allow you to keep tabs on what's going on in the battle as the carnage progresses!

Mobility 11
in the PC version, there are keyboard and mouse and controller options and using either control method, the controls can be fully customised to suit your impairment! So you should be able to play this game with minimal to no issues.

Gameplay 10
this game takes the classic 2-D art style that the franchise is famous for and cranked them tenfold!

The amount of customisation options available when you're customising your team in preparation for battle is extensive you can customise the voice your team uses, the various accessories everyone when your team wears and the look of the Gravestones left behind should one of your worms goes down and a blaze of glory!

When that happens, the worm who gets his poo pushed in the explosives that that particular worm wears detonates causing damage to any Worm on the opposing team stupid enough to come close. Be careful though, the exact same thing can happen to your teammates! Think of this as the Martyrdom perk from Call of Duty. The amount of Multiplayer modes that can be played with your mates on the same couch, or over Xbox live is extensive, so, therefore, there is plenty of lifespan to keep you playing.

In summary, Worms WMD is probably the best artillery style turn-based strategy game ever released on this current generation of hardware. As you can probably tell, the wittiness of this game makes it all the more fun to play! With this game being playable on Xbox game pass for console, or PC, or both if you have Ultimate and would be absolutely crazy not to at least get this game a try! In terms of the system requirements, this game is not too demanding requirements, seriously guys, according to the game's Steam Store page, it is recommending Windows 7! Seriously, guys Windows 7!
