Review of Final Fantasy XV(PC, Xbox One, PS4)

Hey everyone! this week, I review one of Game Pass' most recent additions. Does this game surpass the expectations of its predecessors?

Let's find out!

                            (best enjoyed with headphones on!)

First off, massive thank you to Kenzie "N7 Retro for taking me to the Sonic Movie this week coming. Should I review a Sonic game as next week's review? If so let me know in the comments on what one!

With that aside, let's get on with this!

Square Enix's Final Fantasy series is the most famous franchises in the JRPG sub-genre, since Final Fantasy 7's release back in  1997, it's popularity skyrocketed.  In 2016, the fifteenth entry of the franchise was released for the Xbox One, PS4, and various PC platforms.

Earlier on this month, this game hit Xbox Game Pass. CRSnake, The reason why I took so long to review it is that was there was no chance my old 15-2500 processor would be able to run this, but with my Ryzen 5 3600 in play,  my PC was able to run this kind of game effortlessly!

The game takes place in Eos, which is split into three continents:

  • Lucius

  • Accordio

  • Niflheim(Nibbleheien from FF7 clichee *DING*)

You play as Noctus prince of the Kingdom of Lucius who ventured to Accordio to marry his sweetheart with his bodyguard Prompto the steam's smart@$$ and gunslinger, Gladiolus the team's muscle, and Ignus, the team's jack of all trades and the voice of reason of the team. While en route, all hell breaks loose. The  Nifelheim army attacks Lucius and King Regis gets killed! It''s up to Noctus to discover the powers his bloodline possesses and rebuild the kingdom... While fighting in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 7 at the same time! What a guy!

The accessibility scores are as follows:

    Visibility 9.5
Although there are no colourblind modes in this game, there are no colour coded elements that will cause issues for colourblind players

    Audibility 10
There are in-game subtitles that can be enabled and disabled via the options menu. So you can understand what's going on in the story.

    Mobility 7
There is lo legacy stick layout and you are reliant on two sticks for navigation. But you can enable "wait mode" What this does is when combat starts, time freezes [ZA WAURDO!] this allows you to choose which enemy you are going to attack allowing you to react to whatever is going on in battle. A legacy layout would make it a lot better, but, it's not completely unplayable!

    Gameplay 11
This game is very good for a Final Fantasy game. the combat mechanics are smooth, the story is engaging full of side quests, activities to keep you playing for a long time. This game is very long, clocking in 20-40 hours of playtime*. Graphically, the game looks very good,  even on the low preset.

In conclusion, Final Fantasy XV is a new direction for the franchise. The exploration mechanics rewards exploration of the world as you uncover more and more and more locations. Good thing you have your trusty car, the Regulus to get you from place to place fast. If you can't be bothered driving yourself, you can get Ignis to drive for you. This allows you to appreciate the beautiful scenery and vistas of Eos.

With this game being on Game Pass on both console and PC you can at least give this game a try. Trust me when I say this. You will not regret it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some  FF7 to beat!

    OVERALL SCORE-  93.75%

See you guys in the next review!
