Review of Halo Reach (PC, 360/BC, Xbox One)

Happy Christmas everyone! As a special Christmas treat, I decided to re-review  Bungie's final Halo game. This time on PC!
is this game better than it's console counterpart?

Let's find out!

( as usual best enjoyed with headphones on!)

Y'know guys, waiting for sucks! especially when the game you are downloading is over 100GB!

Over 5 hours !? are you serious!?

Well, instead of watching poor Kenzie getting brutalised for the umpteenth time on Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Ultimate. Trust me, the word "massacre" would hardly be the word. Good thing I have a new RGB backlit keyboard for Xmas! my F key got broken during the matches!

But, hey I digress. Let's get on with this!

It's been 12 years since Halo came to PC, which was Halo 2. Released as a launch title for  Microsoft's highly criticised Operating System (for good reasons!) Windows Vista.

in March, 343announced that the final pice of the puzzle, Halo Reach was coming to Master Cheif Collection. Most important of which, it's coming to PC! Instead of releasing  all5 games in one, they are taking a more "episodic" approach. They will be releasing the games in the collection as and when they are ready. They will be doing so in order of cannon. So they have started with Reach.

This game takes place in the year 2552. An alliance of Alien races called "The Covenant has declared war on Humanity. We are starting to lose. The Covenant's new target of assault- Reach. You play as Noble Six, the new member of the elite squad of Spartans. Noble Team. It is up to you and your buddies to defend it against a massive Covenant assault in one of the most emotional campaigns in the Xbox 360 ara.
One last thing to note, This review is for the PC version only!

The accessibility score are as follows:

Visibility 9.5
This game is easily playable. The only issue we encountered was the team colours in team games. They are Red and Blue. Red and blue are not the hardest hit, but they need addressing nonetheless.

This particular port of this game  TTS (Text to Speech) features available. When a player sends a message via the text chat, the message itself gets read out to you. So you you can hear the guy on the other team telling you on how much of a n00b you are over text chat. So you can shut him up by taking him out like the disrespectful swine he is!

Audibility 10
This game has in-game subtitles so you can understand what's going on during the campaign.

In Multiplier when events such as a flag get taken on-screen notifications, will appear, so you can keep tabs what's going on when you are taking out n00bs online.

Mobility 11
This particular version of Halo can be played on Mouse and Keyboard, which can be customised fully. Although there were issues with input lag during the public beta. But they have been fixed in time for launch. Good job 343!

There is controller support with the exact same options from the original, console versions. So you'll be able to play this game with no issues whatsoever

Gameplay 10
With the sheer amount of content you get for the low price of £6*, it's pretty much a  steal!

The campaign, co-op firefight, and Multiplayer are available right out of the bat. But for additional armour customisations are unlockable as you play. This drives you to keep on playing. If the scrubs in social playlists are too easy for you. Try the Ranked playlists, they will give you a true test of skill!.

In summary, Halo Reach makes the  12-year long wait worth it! The game is extremely well optimised. You don't need a £1600  RTX 2080 PC to run this game. Hell even an 11-year old GTX 550 can run this game at 4K resolution, 60 FPS. my 1060 is running this game without breaking a sweat.

Bungie has done a phenomenal job emulating the console-style interface on a PC platform. So if you are looking to revisit the 9-year-old gen. Now would never be a better time to do so!

OVERALL SCORE 101.25%

Massive thanks to Kenzie Retro for reading the review on my behalf. Now time for an open question.

I have regarded Reach as one of the emotional campaigns in the 360 era.

What would you regard as the most emotional campaigns in gaming?
What moment had you reaching (pun not intended!)  for the tissue box?

Kenzie's is Ori and the Blind Forest (he won't cease praising the game)

See you guys in the next review!
