Review of Halo Spartan Strike (PC, Xbox One)

Hi everyone!

To continue the blog's sci-fi season, August Covenant and to hype ourselves up for Halo Infinite, I have decided to review one of Halo's many spin-offs, will the Spartans break the Covenant lines or will they get picked off one by one like flies from a mad cow's tail? Let's find out||!

"You're going down to the record store,
you're going to give them all you're money"(we interrupt this Halo review to bring you Reel Big Fish *ding*)
Now, there is a reason why this review exists, I met my friend from UWS, Rob "Wayland Utani" Menzies decided to give me another edition of his bad@$$ synthesised music, check out his Reverb Nation page here: https://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/29899191?utm_campaign=a_public_songs&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=page_object_news_item
I personally recommend Tan Shanter, if you listen closely, you might hear someone you recognise ;)

This game is set between the events of Halo 3 and 4. You take part in a simulated rerun of  the city of New Mombasa, marine defences are failing (yellow-bellied cowards!) it is up to you as a Spartan super soldier to aid defences and re-take the city

Big shout out to Rob for being my special guest and scribe for this review!

The accessibility  scores are as follows:

Visibility 10
Although there is no colour blind mode in place, there is very little need for one. Waypoints are displayed in light blue and targets you need to destroy or kill are displayed in red. So you'll be able to play this game with no issues.

Audibility 10
In game subtitles are present and a picture and name of the speaker is also present so you'll be able to understand activity in the game, including orders.

Mobility 9
You can control your Spartan with the keyboard which can be customised and also you can use a gamepad but when using a keyboard the use of the mouse is required this can cause major issues for mobility impaired players. Nice try but no Plasma Pistol!

Gameplay 7
The level design in this game is very linear and the controls are very clunky. In terms of gameplay, it's not that different from Spartan Assault, only on different levels. multiplayer elements in this game are practically non-existent.
But for the mall price, you're paying,  about £2 you will get what you paid for. The arcade-esque scoring system adds replay value as you shoot for that high score. But playing the same level over, and over again gets monotonous.

In summaryHalo: Spartan Strike is a  decent arcade-style game with a fair bit of replay value which does not require a hefty amount of horsepower in your pc to play. As I said before with the game only costing £2 on Steam, you'll get what you've paid for. It's a good game to keep you amused until Halo: FireTeam Raven arrives in Europe (get to it 343!).
