Throughout the history of video games there has been creepy occurrences, hoaxes, glitches and finally Creepypastas about the strange realm of video games throughout this month I will be giving my list of the top 20 gaming CreepyPastas.
20. Luna Game
to Start off this bone chilling list is the Luna Game. This story is more of a practical joke rather than a full-blown CreepyPasta. Hence the reason why it took bottom spot. The Luna Game was a game which was uploaded to the My Little Pony fansite Equestria daily. When it was uploaded the thread got a fast reation. When playing the game everything seemed normal. You play as Luna, one of the characters in the My Little Pony franchise. But as you progress halfway through the level oh boy, you are in for a surprise! All of a sudden a picture of the tormented soul of Apple Bloom appears with, like most jump scares loud noises. To add to the creepiness the game automatically made copies of the creepy picture of Apple Bloom and text documents containing the words “The the end is neigh” all files which was under the same name.
19. Super Mario 64 – dammed
super Mario 64 – dammed is pretty much as standard creepy Mario pasta. As the story goes the player goes into the local retro games store out of a pure nostalgia rush, he tries to get and Nintendo 64 and a few games for it. But the store owner gives the console and a few games to the player for free, due to the complaints of the old owners of the console. So the player and his girlfriend went home and picked it up. Then the creepy and gruesome events unfolded. The reason why this CreepyPasta is so low on the list is because the story in itself has actually had more clichés than a children’s Christmas pantomime. Also, there is no actual hard evidence that are that the creepy, haunted cartridge of Mario 64 actually exists.
18. The Theatre
this CreepyPasta is indeed about a game called “the Theatre”. The game was developed by a company called Solido Software. Nowadays the company is non-existent, due to the entire company going under financially. According to the story, the game was supposed to be educational- entertainment. The player had to select a movie then into the theatre itself. but the creepiness only happens when you don’t select a movie then enter the theatre. Then the game in itself goes haywire such as sprites jumping up and down erratically. The CreepyPasta itself, like Mario 64 – dammed has no hard physical evidence to back up the story.
17.JVK1166z.esp
- JVK is based on the PC version of Bretheda’s Elder Scrolls – Morrowind. According to the story that was a mod for the game. Unfortunately the file changes the graphics rendering of the game so drastically you cant run Morrowind on the Windows operating system. You can only use MS-DOS (Microsoft disk operating system) or to use DOS emulator called DOS box. When you launch the game you start off in a new game where all the main characters and quest givers has been killed, causing the game to be unbeatable. We won’t wonder around the open world you will notice an in game creature called “The Assassin” who watches you, climbs the walls are doing other creepy things. If you stand idle you’ll lose health. And throughout the whole duration of the game you will be constantly losing health. But the player is dead the assassin will crawl over all of the player’s body and lets out a menacing screech. Once again, there is no hard evidence of the file existing.
- Pokemon Creepy Black
- Tails Doll Curse- Sonic R
15. Earthbound
The SNES game Earthbound for the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System)also , known as “MOTHER 2” is one of the most characteristic RPGs (Role-Playing Games) in the NES library of games. Released to the USA in June 5, 1995 and Japan in August 27, 1994. The game was a little different to other RPG’s at the time such as Chrono Trigger. Instead of using swords, bows, Spears and news items like potions. In Earthbound you use more conventional weapons such as baseball bats, frying pans and use items such as pizzas, and the most characteristic item – the multi-bottle rocket. The game looks completely innocent – well. Until you meet the final boss, Gyigas. The developer,Shigesato Itoi , stated in an interview. The inspiration for Gyigas was an event from its childhood. One day Itoi went into the cinema to watch a children’s film, but entered into the wrong movie theatre. Instead of watching the film Itoi wanted to watch in the first place, he watched a film called “The Military Policeman in the Dismembered Beauty” what’s really created the trauma for Itoi was a certain scene in the film which he perceived as a rape scene. But in reality it was not a rape scene (trust me guys, I watched that particular scene!) So when you exit the Cave of the Past. You enter Gyigas’ lair. The layer in itself makes Ness walk on tubes until you reach the Devils Machine. And then you encounter the arguably one of the most, if not THE most disturbing boss in videogame history. Gyigas. To top it off there is another creepy coincidence. During the game Ness comes under attack by policemen. This very accurately represents the first instance of police brutality most notably the incident in 1991 in Los Angeles California, these officers and one sergeant pulled Rodney King over for drunk driving. The officers then threw him out the car and repeatedly hit him with the nightsticks. To make the coincidence more believable Ness has to fight off the same amount of policemen in the game. The reason why it’s so high on this list is because funnily enough, all of which was true. Ironically codex Gyigas is the other name for the Devil's Bible
