Review of Overwatch (PC Xbox One/SX PS4)

Hey, everyone! This week, I review blizzard entertainment's highly popular hero-based first person shooter, can call of duty defend their title? Or does blizzard have what it takes to win play of the game

Let's find out!

(Best enjoyed with headphones on!)

The class based shooter has been around since the mid to late 90s, when half-life was popular, numerous mods were created using the game's engine counterstroke was most notable of this.

However, the world's first team based, first person shooter, team Fortress classic was released to the public In996, Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE) cut on to that trend, and created the first entry of one of the biggest first person shooter franchises in the industry, Battlefield 1942, released to the public in 1992, fast forward to 2007, valve released the Orange box, and call violation of games that used valve' propriety game engine source.

One of these games was team Fortress 2. he game becomes insanely popular, pushing the fusion between team based shooters and arena based shooters, in 2016 blizzard entertainment take this perfect blend and expanded further. Taking centre stage overwatch.

You play the part of an Overwatch agent who is tasked in keeping the world peace after a conflict between humanity and anI-based race, the Omics. The access ability scores are as follows –

Visibility 11

the color scheme can be fully customized. For example, you can customize which color of health bar your allies, and enemies will be in, therefore a loving and visually impaired player to tailor the color scheme, which is best suited to their impairments.

Audibility 9.5

although a subtitle function it available via the options menu, the font size of the subtitles cannot be customised. This puts a hearing impaired player at a disadvantage, as reading the subtitles can put a player at risk of gaining eyestrain. During  a match.

Paying attention to audio cues can be very important, for example, if an enemy hero which use has are ultimate ability and audio cue, for example Hanzo's" led the Dragon consume you!" This is important as I heroes ultimate ability can cause serious damage. For example, D'va's self-destruct ability can kill your entire team in a single hit! So, despite the shortfalls, I hearing impaired player will find very little issues when playing this game.

Mobility 11

the level of customization available to you can go down to by hero. For example, you can customise which button is used to activate a certain ability, while all the default bindings for every other hero which is to be left intact. This makes this game completely accessible for a player with a mobility impairment.

Gameplay  10

This, is the hero based shooter perfected. Yes, similar elements of this formally is present in ID software's Quake Champions, but, its reliance on teamwork sets it out from the norm.

Each and every hero that you can select is a whole new play style. For example, Reinheardt is a very good tank. His shield ability is perfect for pushing the opposing team back as it can absorb a lot of damage like a sponge. Also, Reinhardt is also lethal in hand-to-hand combat, thanks to his hammer. He can also catch an opposing team member off guard by quite literally charging forward, Leeroy Jenkins! style, pinning her or her against a wall.

Mercy, on the other hand, is, by definition, the teams healer. She can use her staff to either heal, or increased attack damage of an Allied hero.

She can also resurrect dead heroes, allowing forward momentum towards an objective to be maintained.

In summary, overwatch is one of the best competitive, hero based, first person shooters out there. It reliance on teamwork, and abilities makes this game stand out from the crowd.

The competitive scene in this game is very much alive. The game has its own competitive eSports league, this year's competition has a prize pool of $4.25 million. Seriously, I thought, Dota was the best, worlds biggest tournament in gaming! With this game being cros**s-platform between all formats, including PS4, PC, now, with enhancements for Xbox series S and X consoles. If you are looking for a first person shooter to play over the run up to Christmas, this game will keep you entertained for years to come. Seriously, the game may be a little pricey, but is worth every penny!

OVERALL SCORE  103.75%

See you guys, in the next review!
