Review of Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time(N64)

Hey everyone! To continue flashback gaming season, I review a game that some consider being "the best game ever made". Do the scores live up to this accolade?

Let's find out!

(best enjoyed with headphones on!)

The Legend of Zelda |Series has been around since 1986 from the basic 2-D days of the  NES to the 3-D open-world game  Breath of the Wild on Switch. Its influence on the industry as a whole is undeniable.

This entry, in particular, was released in 1998 to widespread praise from both critics and community.

the Gerudo King with his evil Wizard, Gannondof rose to power and uses various agents to corrupt the kingdom. Gannondorf is after a relic created by the gods, the Triforce of Courage.   You play as Link The Hero of Time who embarks on an epic adventure, help Zelda find the Triforce and wield the Power of the Gods it possesses.

The accessibility scores are as follows:

Visibility 9.5

This game has no colourblind modes. but there is little need for one. There are no colour-coded elements that can cause issues for colourblind players.

Audibility 8

In some cases, you are reliant on audio cues to progress through the game. For example, when a button or switch is activated and the effects are only activated for a certain time, a ticking-style sound plays, as the time ticks down, the sound gets faster. Also, certain doors require a certain song to be played on your ocarina. When you are in the right place, the "Puzzle solved" jingle plays. A player with a hearing impairment won't be able to pick up those cues.

But the single-player only nature of the game decreases the impact of this! In terms of dialogue, no spoken dialogue is present due to the memory limitations of an N64 cartridge (only 64MB!) so, as par for the course, it's all text-based!

Mobility 9.5

Like most games on the N64,  movement is controlled by the single control stick, located at the centre of the controller the c-buttons are to use items. These items have to be assigned to a button. This is is (kind of) resembles customisable controls. But up-C allows you to receive advice from your fairy, Navi (hey! listen!). There are on-screen prompts on the top to explain which action each button does. So a mobility-impaired player will find this game easy to play.

Gameplay 11

This game is an all-time classic! This game more-or-less has it all! fast-paced hack and slash battles puzzle-solving to slow the pace down, fun mini-games, and a truly epic tale. The game clocks in at 26 hours. For an  N64 game, that's pretty damn long!

In summary Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is the classic RPG  on the N64 era perfected.    the combat is fluent, the puzzles are fun and challenging. If you don't have Ocarina of Time you're doing it wrong! .  Certain People say that Majora's Mask is better. But,m hey who am I to judge?

OVERALL SCORE- 95%
