Review of Middle Earth: Shadow of War (PC,PS4, Xbox One)

Hi, everyone this week, I review the latest addition to the series of games based on  JRR Tolkien's fantasy world. Does this game have what it takes to get to the top of the blog (like Gary is doing on Getting over It (he has requested a review of this game!)

Let's find out!

(best enjoyed with headphones on!)

JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series is one of the biggest series of books in British literature. it's influence in the fantasy genre in  both films and literature cannot be understated. Shortly after  electronic arts losing the rights to making games based on  Lord of the Rings. WB games quickly decided to snap up  the rights of the franchise.

This particular game is set after the events of shadow of Mordor. Taion who is still infused with the spirit of the elf lord Crimbor. Both travelled to Mount doom to forge a new version of The One Ring, free of Sauron's corruption. Celebrimbor is then captured by Shelob, who demanded the new One Ring and exchange for the Elf Lord's safety.

After gaining possession of it, Shelob looks into the future to find out that the forces of Sauron is still active and is currently attacking the last Godorian fortress in Mordor.

It is up to you to clear up what's left of Sauron's evil while tracking down bearer  the original One Ring.

The accessibility scores are as follows –

Visibility 8
there are no colorblind modes available in the options menu. But the colour schemes in this game is perfectly accessible to a colourblind player. When an enemy is suspicious of your presence, a yellow arrow will show. When you mess up completely, and an enemy is now aware of your presence, red arrows will show. So you should be fine with this game.

Audibility 10
the in game subtitles which can be switched on and off  via the  options menu are available, so you should be able to understand what goes on in the story as it progresses.

Mobility 11
the keyboard and mouse controls can be redefined via the options menu. This game also has full controller support. Both the Xbox one controller and PlayStation DualShock  4 controllers are supported. When playing this game using a controller the variety of button layouts available is extensive. This game is very easily playable for a player with a mobility impairment.

Gameplay 9
gameplay wise this game is very good. The open world mechanics of this game allows you to explore the regions of a post third age Mordor as entirely your own pace. Similar to Sea of Thieves, the multiplayer element is dynamic. You can build your own fortress, and use whichever troops you have under your command to defend it. However, any other player, or your friends can  to try to attack and capture your fortress. So there are plenty of lifespan in the game to keep you playing for months the big criticism is that the majority of the mechanics are plagiarised from the Assassin's Creed games.

In summary, Middle Earth: Shadow of War is a very good, lengthy third person open world game. The story is good, the stealth elements in this game is also good. The multiplayer element gives you infinite replayability and lifespan to keep on playing for a good while. If you own an Xbox One X, you could play this game with 4K graphics. As a matter of fact Microsoft tried to pitch this game as  a launch title for the console! (Seriously guys, not kidding!)

OVERALL SCORE 95%
Before I go I would like to say a few words. If you are going into a shop or an enclosed space, or even in public transport like a train or a bus for remember to bring a   covering, for example a mask with you. This protects you from the virus which, by the way still is a very clear threat.

Stay safe. Maintain social distancing. Bring relevant and adequate PPE with you. Stay alive.

See you guys in the next review!
