DGR Bloggies 2019

Hey, everyone! Welcome to the dgr bloggies of 2019. Due to university work, I've decided to bypass the nominations and combine them in one post. So who will win the awards this year?

Let's find out!

(best enjoyed with headphones on!)

FULGORE AWARD

first off, the Fulgore Award, the highest-scoring modern game. The nominations  for the Fulgore Award are:

 Soul Calibur 6
A pretty solid fighting game lacks the roster size of Tekken 7, but Tekken has been out longer!

Tom Clancy's: Division 2
This game is the perfect blend of the MMORPG elements of Destiny with the Gears-esque duck-and-cover mechanics. This built on the foundations the original was built upon.

Gears 5
The second time a Gears of War game has been nominated for this category. The Coalition has spared no expense when it comes to accessibility features. The Multiplayer alone is great fun to play and the inclusion of Escape mode gives it infinite replayability, as you can create your own escape maps.

 Surviving Mars
Probably the best city builder I have ever played with an excellent controller interface, and it's Sci-Fi theme keeps it fresh

The winner is........ GEARS 5

SATORU IWATA MEMORIAL AWARD

A retro gaming award paying homage to  one of the greatest person involved in the industry

The Nominations for the Satoru Iwata Memorial Award are:

Black Mesa
A fine example of what a remaster should be. The most accessible version of the Original Half-Life  The new engine it used makes it easy to forget the fact you are playing a game from 1998!

King of Fighters 98
A throwback to when fighting games were all the rage! A massive roister to chose from, customisable controls. It's all there!

LEGO Star Wars the Complete Saga
A classic family-friendly action game. With both the Original and prequel sagas to play through, this game has plenty of content you unlock with skill. The co-op mechanic makes this game even more fun. One of the best Star Wars games, in my opinion.

WipEout Fusion
The amount of content you can unlock as you progress gives this game a load of lifespan. Probably the best WipEout game out there.

The winner is... LEGO STAR WARS!

WOODEN SPOON AWARD

Named after the negative accolade in the Six nations for not winning a single match. This  award is for the lowest scoring game

Quake 2 RTX

Nvidia's failed attempt to persuade gamers to buy an RTX GPU. The lack of subtitles and controller support puts this game in the firing line.

Spyro Reignited
another remaster gone horribly wrong. A visibility score of 2 and an audibility score of 6 put this game in the firing line.

Spiderman 2
Apart from the Pizza Time mini-game, these games fail to live up the expectations of its predecessor with audibility score of 0 (spoiler alert- there were no subtitles!) and a visibility score of 3. This game is l like a mouldy rotten pizza you ordered from Dominoes two weeks ago. No same individual would touch this!

Time Crisis 2
with no subtitles and the reliance of the Gcon lightgun for the authentic experience makes this game score low and in the firing line.

The winner is... Spiderman 2!

ET TU BRUTE AWARD

The award that names and shames the b@ckstabbing B@st@rds of the year in the gaming industry. Get the popcorn as I highlight some of those backstabs.

Valve- Half-Life Alyx VR only? Aww hell now!

It's been a decade since a Half-Life game has been released. When Valve announced it. They made it VR only! This means that people with one functioning eye (monocular vision) can't play it. VR technology requires binocular vision (both eyes functioning) to play. So the most hyped game in a decade, and we can't even play it!

    Blizzard- Warcraft 3 Reforged debacle

When Blizzard announced the remaster of the highly successful RTS WarCraft 3  people (including myself!) was hyped. but after blizzard released it, it was a bug-ridden mess, there was a lot of people were demanding refunds. Certain players were posting om how to get refunds on the Blizzard forums. Shortly after that, they got their accounts banned. To me, that is an EA-ish way of playing damage control, to make matters worse, any custom map you created, Blizzard now owns!

Electronic Arts- Error 404 conferences not found
When  EA took to the E3 stage, apart from the bog-standard annual sports games, the showed little to nothing new. Enough said!

Activision- Sony's Sole Survivor

Another year, another Activision screw-up. Like last year, Call of Duty was involved. Survival mode was a hit in Modern Warfare 3. When the latest addition to the Modern Warfare series launched, Spec Ops Survival Mode was locked behind PS4 exclusivity until weeks before the next entry is due to launch.  Screwing over PC and Xbox One Players! well done, Activision, you know how to P!$$ us off! *clapping*

The winner is..... Valve!

That's it for the Bloggies!

See you guys in the next review!

SpartaqnCommander1990 out.
