Review of Unreal Championship ( OG Xbox)

Hey everyone,  I am back in R-Cade after a long absence, With Gears of War 5 coming out next month, and Gears of War 4 being FREE with Xbox Live Gold, I have decided to review some old school Unreal Engine-powered deathmatch. Can this game become king of the old-school FPS?

Let's find out!

just a quick reminder these narrations are best enjoyed with headphones on)

(

Epic Games' Unreal Engine has been the de facto gaming Engine in terms of Games Development. There have been great games powered by UE *Looks at Gears of War* and not-so-great games powered by UE *looks at Fortnite and goes to the toilet for a good vomit* This game is an Xbox-exclusive First Person Shooter using Unreal Engine 2.

Your character has entered into the  Liandri Mining Coroprations's Unreal Tournament. You have to draft a team, and enter life-or-death fast-paced battles against other teams to become the champion.

The accessibility scores are as follows:

Visibility 6
The teams are red and blue and there is no way to change them! This contrast may not hit as hard as green and red but it needs addressing nonetheless.

Audibility 8
There is no subtitle support, but there is no story in this game, except for your character entering the tournament. When certain events happen, for example, a team's flag is taken during a match, on-screen notifications appear to let you know, so you can keep tabs what goes on in matches. So you should be ok with this game.

Mobility 9.5
The controls can be customised so you can change the controls to suit your impairments. But the sheer size of the Duke controller is a serious setback in terms of playing games on the Original Xbox, it would be best to pick up Unreal Tournament 3, the Xbox One's controller would be better suited for players with mobility impairments.

Gameplay 7.5
When I started playing this game, I had an overwhelming sense of Deja vu that's because of Epic recycled assets from Unreal Tournament 2003! There was major corner-cutting here, recycling elements from previous games,  sounds familiar? *looks at Call of Duty*

Apart from the obvious plagiarisms from UT 2003, this game is a p[retty damn good first-person arena shooter. With Xbox Live multiplayer shut down, a major component of this game has been removed, however, you can still play matches against bots. But this game does get repetitive for a while, due to its limited amount of game modes. It would be best to go for TimeSplitters as it has more content that comes with the game.

In summary, Unreal Championship is a good port of UT 2003. This shown developers how effective it is to use UE2 on Consoles, which probably was Epic's motivation to develop this game in the first place. This game has a heavy emphasis on Multiplayer, which is now reliant on the tunnelling software such as  Xlink Kai, so if you are looking for some old school deathmatch for your  Original Xbox, this may not be your best option, but an option nonetheless.

OVERALL SCORE- 77.5%
