Review of Wolfenstien: New Colossus(Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another Versus Battle,  as two members of my Local Game store get into another debate gon which game is better.

Will this game set a high score?

without further ado, IT'S TIME TO D-D-DUEL!

(REMINDER: THESE NARRATIONS ARE BEST ENJOYED WITH HEADPHONES ON)

Well, guys, this is the third argument I have been in the epicentre of.

This time it's over the word "W**ch and between  Heather "Blaskowitz" Sands and Greig "Infernus" Freeland. One day in the store in question, Heather decided to brand Greig the aforementioned obscenity. The next day, I went in to buy   £10 to pre-purchase Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition on Steam. They both approached me with their respective review requests to invoke a versus battle. Obviously, being the great believer in diplomacy (and folk not being sent to the hospital!)  I agreed.

Let's get down to business. Id Software's Wolfenstein series has been synonymous with the First Person Shooter (FPS) genre.  Since the franchise's first release in the year 1992* Wolfenstein, along with Doom and Quake, Id has been the juggernaut of the action-shooter genre.

This particular game is the eighth entry in the series. The plot picks up where the New Order left off. The Nazis have achieved world domination, turning society to a worldwide dictatorship.  But a resistance movement is preventing a worldwide total submission to the Nazi regime.

Our protagonist William Joseph Blaskowitz who has been actively fighting against the Kreisau Circle, a collection of top-ranking Nazi officials was tasked to carry out an assassination on  Wilhelm Strasse, nicknamed "Deathshead". After the events of the game. The mission is a success.

Blaskowitz finds himself in Nazi-Occupied America, working the local resistance cell to eliminate top Nazi officers to destabilize the government and freeing the shackles of Nazi oppression in the US.

The accessibility scores are as follows:

Visibility 10
This game has numerous colourblind modes, so you can play this game with the greatest of ease. Sehr gut Bethesda! Very good, Bethesda!

Audibility 10
There are in-game subtitles, even when the characters are speaking in German.  Good luck translating without, Frau Sands!

Mobility 8
There is controller support for this game Wunderbar! Wonderful!  But Legacy stick layout is not supported, so you'll be stuck with the keyboard & mouse.  Nicht so gut!  Not so good!

Gameplay 10
Once again the legendary Wolfenstein series shows it's flare in storytelling.

A Nazi-occupied society has a very dark, depressing, Half-Life 2 esque vibe to it's setting. In a good way though. The characters are developed very well and, for what I've played, the story is very well written.

The DNA of Doom (2016) is very noticeable. But with very subtle. In Doom, you will get rewarded by simply pushing forward, killing any enemy that comes in your path. In this game, on the other hand, rushing into a gunfight like a  total dummkopf idiot is a pretty much suicide. In this game, you'll have to use your head. stealth would be the best approach and taking them down would be the best approach.

Thanks to Vulcan technology, which is built into the game's engine, you don't need a  high spec, £1,500 PC to run this game. Graphically it looks stunning, even on low settings. With this game being on Game Passon both PC and Console, you should give this game a try.

In summary, Wolfenstein 2: New Colossus is an excellent first-person shooter. The Wolfenstein brand has a lot to live up to. In my opinion, this game lives up to that name. Bethesda has their swagger back from the abysmal failure that was the 2009 reboot. I know this game may be expensive, but it's worth every penny.

OVERALL SCORE 95%
